Dedicated to re-vitalising The Soper Hall

Dear Members
I hope this finds you well and looking forward to Christmas.
This has been a most eventful and encouraging year for us at the Soper Hall:

  • Our regular hirers are increasing month on month – we now have over 20 using the hall on a regular weekly basis including new classes in mother and baby fitness, pilates and boot camps.
  • The Soper Hall is now firmly established as a Comedy Club. These events held on the first Friday of every month are now fully sold out every time to an audience of 120 people which is the maximum the hall can hold. They are fantastic events which raise much needed funds for the Soper Hall from the money raised by the bar we run.
  • We have been the location for some vitally important local community events such as the recent Beer Festival, Art Exhibition and FitFest. FitFest, run to support a local charity, was a first for the Soper Hall but was phenomenally popular and the organisers will be looking to repeat this again next year. The Beer Festival, run by the Round Table, was as happy and busy an event as ever and made many thousands of pounds for local good causes.
  • Our regular makers markets and craft fairs have grown in popularity and we have added indoor Boot Fairs to our list of events which again raises funds for the Hall.

With the money raised this year we have been able to make much needed improvements to the Hall including:

  • Repairs to the roof.
  • Replacing two rotting windows with double glazed units.
  • Converting the old CAB accommodation to a fabulous new hall, named in memory of William Garland Soper as The Garland Hall.

Since we have made these improvements we have not let up on our fundraising activities and have almost raised enough to fund our next project. This is to be the provision of much needed disabled facilities adjacent to the Memorial Hall, a kitchenette for the Garland Hall and storage facilities.
We have also been selected as a beneficiary for the Tesco Bags of Help scheme which we hope to use to improve our outside lighting. There is still time for you to put your tokens to support us if you shop in Tescos on the Hill or in Edenbridge.
Our next major event is a fantastic “Evening with David Gold” to be held on 19th January. This is sure to be a fascinating evening and we would be most grateful for your support. Click here for a flier giving details of how to apply for tickets.
I would like to give very special thanks to all those who have helped support the Soper Hall this year. This includes our fabulous volunteers but also the superb, dedicated and professional group of people who I am so lucky to work with on the Soper Hall Board.
With very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Beverley
